QR (Quick Response) codes are 2D barcodes invented in 1994 by Denso Wave. Unlike 1D barcodes, they store data both horizontally and vertically — up to 7,089 characters. Three corner finder patterns help scanners locate the code. Built-in Reed-Solomon error correction allows reading even with up to 30% damage.
